Collected data on sea-surface winds, sea-surface temperatures, wave heights, internal waves, atmospheric water, sea ice features and ocean topography. Launched in June 1978 and operated until October 1978. The laser scanning system applies the laser triangulation technique to measure the 3-D height field of the fabric surface and to identify pills or fuzzes through the variation of its height; or a 2-D CCD/CMOS imaging system can be used to digitalize the reflectance properties under a certain illumination by using the intensity of image pixels, and some algorithms are then developed to characterize the pills or fuzzes to distinguish them from the common texture. A whisk broom or spotlight sensor, also known as an across-track scanner, is a technology for obtaining satellite images with optical cameras. It is used for passive remote sensing from space. In a whisk broom sensor, a mirror scans across the satellite ’s path ( ground track ), reflecting light into a single detector which collects data one pixel at a time. 2017-06-07 · In remote sensing, typical applications include the visible light (380–780 nm), infrared (780 nm–0.1 mm), and microwave (0.1 mm–1 m) ranges.

As a result of preliminary work, MBB is constructing the Kartoscan device for the digitization of maps and photos (color or black and white) and is developing an experimental aerial optoelectronic scanner system. Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) is a world leader in processing and analyzing microwave data collected by satellite microwave sensors. Our mission is to provide research-quality geophysical data to the global scientific community.

Remote sensing of the surface of the earth has a long history, however dating from the use of cameras carried by balloons and pigeons in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Later, air craft mount systems were developed for military purposes during the early part of 20th century. Automatic identification and visualization of dangerous gas compounds from long distances.

Space Remote Sensing Systems: An Introduction discusses the space remote sensing system, which is a modern high-technology field developed from earth sciences, engineering, and space systems technology for environmental protection, resource monitoring, climate prediction, weather forecasting, ocean measurement, and many other applications.
The vehicle or carrier for a remote sensor to collect and record energy reflected or emitted from a target or surface is called a platform. The sensor must reside on a stable platform removed from the target or surface being observed. Platforms for remote sensors may be situated on the ground, on an aircraft or balloon (or some other platform within the Earth's atmosphere), or on a spacecraft or satellite outside of the Earth's atmosphere. Scanning System In this system, the image of the small area can take because the system has a single detector which sweeps across the terrain to produce an image. Remote sensing can also be classified according to the basis of sources energy either natural sources or man-made source. Many electronic (as opposed to photographic) remote sensors acquire data using scanning systems, which employ a sensor with a narrow field of view (i.e. IFOV) that sweeps over the terrain to build up and produce a two-dimensional image of the surface.
